The Little Valley ("La Valletta")

  Visits the Little Valley

At the end of the street of the little chapels, one arrives at a small gate which leads into a little square or courtyard: this courtyard is called the little valley or “la Valletta”, the name given to the place where Saint Jerome loved to retire himself in prayers and penance.

In this place, one can admire the last chapel (which recalls the death of Saint Jerome), the Church of the Resurrection with the little cemetery in which some somascan fathers are buried, the little sanctuary dedicated to Saint Jerome and the fountain.

In this atmosphere of peaceful contact with God and nature, everyday, there is a religious to give the blessings with the relics of Saint Jerome and to hear the confessions of the pilgrims.

When the weather is bright, it is possible to admire from this point, the wonderful panorama on the Valley of Saint Martin, the lake of Garlate and (climbing higher to the castle), Lecco and a part of its lake.

The Little Valley is open to visitors from September to April, from Monday to Saturday, 8.00 to 16.30 and on Sundays, 8.00 to 17.30.

Outside this timetable, it is also possible to climb to the castle and other destinations near it, following the indications on the place.
